i found this book a real screen flicker and had difficulty leaving it part way through to sleep so had to get back to it as soon as possible today - good entertaining read and very interesting plot turns, nothing trite or unrealistic but a good old ending that leaves you feeling the world has been righted again. Very modern themes and a clever analysis of the blur between fiction and reality in so many ways that we would all do well to be mindful about.
This is a touching story that pulls the heart strings but without being gratuitously sentimental. The characters compel you into another world and with each page that world becomes richer and ever more intriguing. A great book and I can't wait to read Lesley's next publication.
Curnow's light touch links the everyday struggles of a woman struggling to understand the betrayals of her partner and the world into which he has plunged her.
The story links the wildness of an isolated batch on the New Zealand Coast with the mystery and excitement of England.
A good read and I really enjoyed the story.
